Thomasville: Coronavirus cited in death of prominent North Carolina furniture, business leader

Coronavirus has been cited as the cause of death of a prominent Triad furniture, business and community leader who advocated for efforts ranging from regionalism to the Wyndham Championship to the Eastern Music Festival. Fred Starr, 87, a longtime president and CEO of Thomasville Furniture Industries, died April 1 at Moses Cone Hospital from complications related to coronavirus, according to an obituary.
