Raising the Bridge is an organization that focuses on at-risk youth in the Mesquite community between the ages of 12 and 18. They provide mentoring, athletic programs, tools for enhancing life skills, and other forms of support.
It is well-known that the middle and high-school years have a significant impact on the trajectory of one's life. Raising the Bridge aims to bring positivity to this time, setting the participant up for lifelong success. They focus on all of the choices that young people have to make as they begin to enter adulthood and the long-term effects that they will have.
Raising the Bridge has held over 90 programs and events that benefited local youth. Recently, they organized a Summer Youth Internship Program with the City of Mesquite Community Service Department. It allowed teenagers aged 16-18 to have a summer job in the city. There were job placements at the library, city parks & recreation department, the animal shelter, and even the fire department.
This organization is also involved with a community garden. They are currently in the process of raising funds to build a permanent place for programs and services to the community.
