For More Information
Many people have requested Ford to begin selling a compact pickup truck, and the automaker has now responded. The Ford Maverick is expected to be a 2022 model and will be released next year. Ford recently released information about the production data to its investors and announced they were in the process of manufacturing a "C-Pick Up." They are currently testing a few prototypes and made 21 of the models.
This new model is expected to be manufactured at Ford's plant in Hermosillo, Mexico. This is the current plant where the Bronco Sport is in production. Although there hasn't been a lot of information released about the Maverick, many experts believe it will be similar to the Bronco with its features. It will likely have a C2 unibody platform and will offer all-wheel drive to ensure it can tackle steep inclines and off-road challenges with ease.
The powertrain options and horsepower will also be similar to ensure it has more than enough power under the hood. There's even the chance it will be available as an electric model for those who want to save on fuel. Experts also assume the vehicle will have up to 1,500 pounds of towing power, similar to the Transit Connect that Ford sells. This will make it one of the unique trucks in the industry because it'll have plenty of power despite its smaller size.
There was recently a sighting of a camouflaged pickup truck in the process of being tested with a Ford Ranger. The camouflaged truck appeared to be the new Maverick and had large headlights with an expansive grille. It looks like the new truck could be large enough for hauling and storing oversized equipment and personal belongings. The angular styling also makes it look bold and edgy.
The photos of the Ford Maverick make it look like the new model will feature a crew-cabin configuration with two rows of seats in the cabin to seat up to five people. The truck was also equipped with 17-inch Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, which will likely be optional and currently available with the Ford Bronco Sport Badlands.
Advanced technology is expected to be present in the Maverick with features like the Ford Co-Pilot360, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SYNC. Front bucket seats and many storage compartments and cubbies will also likely be present in the cabin.
As new information is released about the Ford Maverick, we'll keep you updated!
