In this post we will explain how you can create your own validated learning video. We will use this opportunity to help you get familiar with the brand new dimension and explain how we edited our demo video to create a validated learning approach. Validated learning means that people test their knowledge by answering the questions after reviewing the given information. Viewers first obtain the information after which their knowledge will be validated by answering the questions. The video branching feature in the Vidzor Learning App can be setup either to accept or reject answers and create an adaptive video course. In this video learners will be led through to an enhancement module if they score well on tests or to remediation if they don’t do so well. Creating your own validated learning video The major difference between adaptive learning and validated learning is the appearance of the question within the timeframe of the video. In a validated learning scenario, the question pops up after providing information to the viewer. In this video, the questions are being asked after the information has been shown. First determine where you put your question on the timeframe, then add the Vidzor Learning App called EduApp by dragging it on the video. Step 1: Configure the Vidzor Learning App to the right setting. The Layout Insert the name of the header and customize your color theme. Don't forget to tick the box which requires viewers to fill in their answers. Furthermore, you can number the questions automatically by ticking the “Question counter”.     Adding Questions You can always add new questions by selecting the “add new component” button; the application offers single-choice, multiple-choice and open questions.  After making your choice, you can structure the questions to your own preference. For single-choice and multiple-choice questions, you should tick the circle of the correct answer. This will validate the viewer's answer in the video. For open questions you can insert keywords which can be used to validate against the viewer's answers. This option will only approve answers among the words you have listed. Step 2: Create the right evaluation settings. The Evaluation In the three boxes you can structure the evaluation process to your own preferences. In order to create a validated video, you will need to tick the “evaluate test”, which will compare the answer given by the viewer to the correct answer selected in the app. Tick the “repeat test” option for letting viewers retaking the test again once the video has ended.  Showing the viewer the result is also an option you can select. By choosing this option, the viewer gets the results just after filling in the questions.  Enhanced adaptive video course module: The "Pass video" can be implemented in 3 different ways: 1) Personalized video course path. In the case that the viewer answers a question correctly, you can select an advanced video the viewer should jump to in order to create a more challenging and effective learning path. 2) Adaptive video course path. In the case you wish to lead the viewer through a quicker path and allow them to skip a few questions in the video, you can insert a timestamp under "Continue From" to fast forward to a specific chapter in the video you wish the viewer to continue from. 3) Continue the video path. In the case you wish to send all your viewers down the same video path, you can set the "Jump to" point to '-1'. Remediation of video course module We want to support the viewers when they answer incorrectly and should direct them down a path with information which will help them answer the question. The "Fail video" option can be used in 3 different ways: 1) Personalized learning experience. Under the fail video option, select the video you wish the viewer to watch in case they answered the question incorrectly and create a simplified path for viewers who need more support.  2) Repeat the video segment. Under the fail video option select the main video and set the “Start From” time to the point from which viewers can find the information. 3) Continue the video path. In the case you wish to send all your viewers down the same video path, you can tick the "Continue this video" box. In cases 1 and 2, a retake of the questions will reappear. Step 3: Finalizing your video. Once you have setup your complete video you can use the preview option to go through the full video and make any changes prior to publishing your project. Finally if you are satisfied with your project, you can go back to the library and publish it live. Step 4: Get started. Now it's your turn!
