WhoopTee Blog Fundraiser Idea: Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction

Do you ever get sick of doing the same old fundraisers? Trivia nights are great. So are dances. You’ll get no argument from us on any of there tried and true classics. However, there are times when it pays to think outside the box. If you want to get noticed in a crowded fundraiser environment, you need to stand out. This is especially true in fall, winter, and early spring when it’s cold outside. With less competition from picnics, sports, and kid related activities, people need something fun and fresh to do. This makes the cold months primed for fundraisers.    Bachelor/Bachelorette auctions are very easy in theory. You just get some men or women and auction off a date with them. On a practical level, the best way to go about this would be to get donors to contribute the dates. Let’s say you have a pizza restaurant in town; you can auction off a date with one of your bachelors/bachelorettes to the pizza restaurant with the restaurant providing the meal in exchange for being listed in the promotional materials and announced at the event.The same goes for a movie, mini golf, what have you.   You’ll need a DJ and an/or an MC to keep the energy lively. You could also consider bringing  in a legit auctioneer to make this interesting and drive the bidding. Make sure you work closely with other organizations and businesses in your area to bring the entire community on board.    Like any good fundraiser, there needs to be other events besides just the bidding to make money. You can sell drinks and concessions, have a 50/50 raffle, raffle off other items like custom t-shirts from your organization, or a wheelbarrow full of booze. Seek donations from members, businesses, and the community for a silent auction.    It would be good to have some sort of fun game to raise funds and keep people engaged in between auctions. Heads or tails is perfect essentially you have guests pay to stand up and put their hands on either their hard or their rear. The MC then flips a coin, and everyone who chose correctly survive while the others take a seat. Simply repeat until there is one winner who receive a cash prize.    You could also consider having a pay-to-play karaoke contest. This would add extra entertainment  value and if you stretch the contest until the end of the night, it will make your contestants stick around until the end and their friends and family who are cheering them on.    Make the event into a variety show! The more entertainment you provide the more likely you’ll be able to get people to pay and come.
