WM Barr & Company: Memphis manufacturer plans major expansion to bring jobs back from China

W.M. Barr & Co. Inc. is planning a 10,000-square-foot, $12 million expansion of its facilities on Presidents Island, a project that will add 40 new jobs. The company, which manufactures paint removers, solvents and cleaning products, applied for payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) benefits from the Economic Development Growth Engine (EDGE) for Memphis & Shelby County.
