Woodstock: Nicholas Mahood has been appointed Recreational Trails and Nordic Director at Woodstock Inn & Resort in Woodstock - VT, USA

The Woodstock Inn & Resort has named Nicholas Mahood the new Recreational Trails and Nordic Director to manage its growing winter activities program. Responsible for operations of the resort's Tubbs Snowshoes Adventure Center, which opened last winter, Mahood will oversee outdoor winter sports as well as the cultivation and upgrading of 30 kilometers of trails on Mt. Peg fit for Nordic skiing and fat tire biking in the snow, to hiking and mountain biking in warmer weather. He will also work with and manage the snowshoe and Nordic guides to enhance and create new experiences for guests. A former assistant Nordic coach for the University of New Hampshire, Mahood most recently was the coach of the New England Junior National Team and junior committee chair for the New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA), for which he was recognized as the NENSA Coach of the Year in 2014. He also has served as head Nordic coach for Woodstock Union High School since 2008. Equally passionate about Vermont's culinary bounty, Mahood is a staple at the Woodstock Farmers Market where he has been sous chef since 2014, and was pastry chef before he left the Farmers Market to become had chef at Cloudland Farm in Pomfret, VT, from 2010 to 2014. His culinary path included time in the celebrated kitchen of Jean-George Restaurant in New York as pastry chef. A New England native, Mahood currently lives in Woodstock. He has multiple degrees from the University of New Hampshire including a BS and MS in Exercise Physiology and was a doctoral candidate at the University of Connecticut and University of New Hampshire.
