Adu Chimpanzee, brand new for the 2018 Jane Goodall Institute addition by Patience BrewsterI have followed Jane Goodall since I first saw her in National Geographic living with chimps in 1963.I have wanted to see apes in the wild my whole life. Might be next on my list. I decided to do an ape as my Jane Goodall fundraiser last fall.Technology is so incredibly helpful for research today. I stared at gorilla, chimp and bonobo photographs. I began sketching last fall while my granddaughter slept in a fluffy down nest right on my desk. When she woke, we would google videos of monkeys and gorillas in the wild. She learned to make chimp calls sitting in my lap looking at their faces and listening to their grunts. They became one of her favorite animals, so I pulled out my 60-year-old Steiff monkey puppet for her to play with. Our baby chimp Adu is the resulting ornament. He is handmade and hand painted in his hand made wire nest. His proceeds will go directly to the Jane Goodall Institute to support education to nurture respect for our planet and its inhabitants, particularly those severely endangered. Please support Jane's efforts in any way you can.Adu will be doing his best to contribute!Another angle of Adu. His fuzzy pajamas are especially endearing.
