WWICS Group Blog Additional Nomination Announced by Ontario for 2017

One of the most famous Provincial Nominee Program of Canada, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, has been given additional nomination allocation for the year 2017.The announcement for this increase was made on December 18th.A spokesperson for Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration of Ontario stated that the announcement for the exact number of additional nominations will be made at a later date.The news has come after the update released on November 22nd, in which it was disclosed by OINP that it has reached the allocation cap of 6,000 nominations for the year 2017 under the Canada's Provincial Nominee Program.Due to this increase, it has been stated by OINP that the work for processing the applications will continue and nominations will be issued till the time additional allocation is reached.Moreover, an application that is submitted that is beyond the nomination allocation of OINP will also go through processing and applicants who are successful will be nominated in the year 2018.There are ten different immigration streams in which applications are accepted under OINP.The slightly higher allotment in 2018 may possible benefit Ontario through the multi-year immigration plan from the Federal government. The announcement for this immigration program was made in early November.In the year 2017, Canada had set up the target of 51,000 for the Provincial Nominee Program allotment, and it has been planned to be increased to 55,000 in the year 2018.There has been a 32% increase in PNP target for the period between 2017 to 2020.
