The province of Alberta has disclosed its target for Provincial Nominee Program for the year 2018. The maximum allocation target has been set to 5,600 nominations.The maximum target of 2018 is 100 nominations more than the allotment target which was set for 2017 at 5,500 under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).Going in line with the multi-year immigration plan which was announced by the federal government on November 1st, 2017, a slightly higher allotment was expected for Alberta for the year 2018.There has been an 8% increase in the target that has been set for the year 2018 as compared to previous year.2018 will have New StreamsAt present there are three immigration streams under AINP - self-employed farmer stream, employer-driven stream and strategic recruitment stream.In 2018, it has been planned that the employer-driven stream and the strategic recruitment stream and their sub-categories will be put together into one stream, and will be known as Alberta Opportunity Stream.A second stream is also expected to be introduced by the province of Alberta. This will be aligned with the federal Express Entry pool in 2018. The province has yet to disclose the criteria for selecting applications for this stream.The Alberta Express Entry Stream will enable a limited number of aspiring immigrants in the Express Entry pool to be nominated through AINP.Candidates will come from three economic immigration classes from the federal government - the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC), the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
