YG Entertainment: Watch BLACKPINK's Lisa Tear Up the 2024 VMAs Stage During Her Solo Award Show Debut

Getty Images Ever since BLACKPINK member Lisa was announced as one of the 2024 VMAs performers , fans and critics alike have been on the edge of their seats waiting to see the show Lalisa Manoban would put on. As expected, she did not disappoint. On September 11, 2024, Lisa made her solo debut on the main MTV stage, performing a medley of her singles "Rockstar," which was up for four Moon Person awards during the evening, and "New Woman," her buzzy collaboration with Spanish singer Rosalía that came out in August. 2024 MTV Video Music Awards - Show Getty Images 2024 MTV Video Music Awards - Show Getty Images Ahead of the VMAs, Lisa teased her takeover of the stage via TikTok , sharing a video where her dancers took turns posing for the camera to the sound of "Rockstar." The relay-style video ended with Lalisa herself wearing a baby tee that read "baby i'm a rockstar" and covering her face with a black baseball cap from Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour. For the actual show, Lisa was joined on stage by multiple dancers, making for a dramatic performance with impressive choreography. The 2024 VMAs mark the first time Lisa performs alone at the famed event, but it's not the first time the singer graces the stage at the awards show. In 2022, Lisa and her fellow BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé already earned the title of VMAs performers with a live rendition of their explosive song "Pink Venom," the pre-release single of the quartet's album Born Pink. 2022 MTV VMAs - Show Kevin Mazur/Getty Images The performance marked not only the members' first time at the VMAs but also their first-ever U.S. award show. Back then, BLACKPINK were introduced on stage by Ohio-born rapper Latto and, much like Lisa did tonight at New York's UBS Arena, they made everyone - including Taylor Swift - dance the night away. 2022 MTV VMAs - Show Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images That's not all, though: The same night, Lisa also made VMAs history, becoming the first soloist to win Best K-pop. She received the award for her solo song "Lalisa." The star was cheered on by her fellow BLACKPINK members, who couldn't stop smiling and making hearts from the stands. 2022 MTV VMAs - Show Jeff Kravitz/Getty Images "I want to thank MTV for this wonderful honor," Lisa said when picking up her Moon Person. "I want to thank all of my collaborators in my solo project, especially Teddy Oppa, YG, and [director] Seo [Hyun-Seung], for making 'Lalisa' so much more special. And BLINKs, I mean, you're the most important ones. Thank you so much for making this happen. I love you," she continued before thanking her fellow members in Korean. What can we say? VMAs and Lisa really go well together! Originally Appeared on Teen Vogue Want more great Culture stories from Teen Vogue ? Check these out:
