Z2Live: Layoffs at King's Z2Live studio

The Seattle mobile studio owned by Candy Crush creator King has suffered a series of layoffs.GeekWire, via Pocket Gamer, reports that several staff from Z2Live have been made redundant as King prepares to better integrate the studio into its development empire. While it hasn't been confirmed how many jobs have been cut, it is believed most are from the support and marketing teams. The studio was home to 100 people when King acquired it last year, but currently only 60 are listed as employees on LinkedIn."We acquired the Seattle studio last year and are now integrating it into our business and aligning it with our strategic goals," a King representative told Pocket Gamer."We are removing some support functions and capitalising on the experience and talent within the studio, so we can best deliver on our goal of bringing the very best games to our network."Z2Live is best known for mobile titles such as the recently launch Rise of Tyrants (pictured). However, King is planning to close a number of the firm's games at the end of September.
